Group Activities

If you are with a group that is staying at the hotel we will be pleased to help you organise entertaining activities. Here are a few suggestions that we can recommend.

Porter tasting at Novotel Gothenburg

In front of the hotel is a porter vat that is over a century old. Inside this vat you will meet Sweden’s leading connoisseur of porter, who will initiate you into the secrets of this dark ale. You will be given an entertaining insight into the distinctive characteristics of porter, how it is brewed and its fascinating history. You get to taste three types of porter during the tasting session, which takes around an hour. The vat accommodates 20 people. Tasting can be arranged in the hotel for larger groups.

Cost: SEK 225 per person. Minimum 10 participants

Otto’s beer tasting session

Accompany us on a beer tasting session during which you get to sample and appreciate beers from every corner of the world. Nine different types of beer will be served during the session, which is estimated to take one hour. Total around 900 ml per person. For groups of up to 20 people the beer tasting session will be held in the old porter vat in front of the hotel. Tasting can be arranged in the hotel for larger groups.

Chocolate tasting

Mad about chocolate? You know of course that chocolate has been regarded as an aphrodisiac since ancient times. Why not come along and tease your tastebuds with chocolate made from the best beans in the world. Taste the difference between African, South American and Caribbean beans, while also learning more about chocolate’s fascinating journey from plant to praline.
The tasting session is held at the Novotel Göteborg and the price includes eight types of chocolate, a small booklet of recipes, wine tips and facts. Maybe you’ll go home with a newfound passion …

Guided tour of Klippan heritage site

The area in which the hotel is situated has a very long and interesting history. Join us on a tour of castle ruins and jetties. Experienced and knowledgeable guides will talk about events and buildings that have had a big influence on Sweden’s history.

Indoor Go-karting

An adrenalin-filled experience awaits you just ten minutes’ walk from the hotel. Go-karts with nine-horsepower engines offer a combination of speed and thrills. A big-screen television lets you see what is happening on the most distant part of the track. Overalls and helmets can be borrowed.

Cross Country Driving

Treat your colleagues to a day of off-roading and rejuvenating mudpacks!
Participants receive a half-day’s training in advanced off-roading. The adventure begins at the hotel itself where the big off-roaders pick you up. We then head to one of our off-road courses in the Gothenburg region, where everyone gets a chance to try basic and more advanced off-road driving under the guidance of skilled instructors. We promise an entertaining and instructive day!

RIB Boat

Zip over the water at speeds approaching those of offshore racing, in complete safety and comfort. Your adventure starts from Klippan marina, right next to the hotel. The boat is a RIB 36 Charter, built for transporting passengers at high speed in all types of weather conditions. An experienced skipper looks after you and the boat has the best conceivable safety equipment, from navigation aids through to marine clothing.

Tour of the archipelago

A tour of Gothenburg’s stunning archipelago is a great experience at any time of the year. Start your boat tour from the jetty by the hotel. While cruising between the beautiful islands you can enjoy a wonderful dinner onboard. This is also a great opportunity to visit one of the islands, each of which has its own special charm. We will be happy to suggest a trip that suits your specific requirements.

New Älvsborg Fortress

New Älvsborg fortress has stood at the mouth of the river Göta Älv since the 17th century and has a fascinating and thrilling history. Travel by boat to New Älvsborg fortress, walk among the jail cells and listen to old tales related by a knowledgeable guide.

Surprise painting session

Let your creativity flow without any pressure to perform. A surprise painting session adds an enjoyable interlude to a conference, as well as an opportunity to chat and mingle. The painting, which is created together, strengthens the group and promises plenty of laughs and an experience to remember. Everyone will take away a memory of a creative and rewarding conference.

Duration: around 75 minutes, including time for an optional drink and mingling.
Cost: SEK 250 per person (incl. frame SEK 325/person)

Pick-n-paint

During a conference activity organised by Pick-n-Paint, participants each get to glaze their own ceramic object. The subject can be based on a specific theme according to your wishes, or be totally free of choice. The instructor will provide ceramic objects, a large selection of glazes and any other materials that you may feel are needed. She will also give personal assistance and guidance throughout the activity. The base price includes an attractive mug for participants to paint. If you would prefer other objects from the large selection available, this can be arranged.

Cost: SEK 260 per person (including glazing, firing and postage of finished items to companies within 30 kilometres of Gothenburg)

Carnegie Barge II

One of the barges in front of the hotel is staffed by a Swedish couple who have a strong love of Italy, and in particular the cuisine of Tuscany. In this sophisticated setting they give groups the opportunity to share their culinary passion and warm hospitality. Read about the four activities they offer below.

Antipasti and 20,000 kilometres of Tuscany

When you drive 20,000 kilometres around Tuscany it provides plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy good food. We take you on a journey through the countryside and let you sample local specialities along the way. Antipasti means starter, and it’s our aim to stimulate your appetite. Tuscany awaits!

Italian cheeses and Swedish ships’ rats!

Come aboard and taste some wonderful Italian cheeses. We offer a selection of Pecorino, Taleggio, Gorgonzola and a guest cheese. They are accompanied by salsa, honey, and a red onion marmalade that we cook together so you can take some home with you.

La Dolce Vita

Together we create a sweet, delightful and seductive Italian dessert and sample a selection of chocolate from Tuscany, to the accompaniment of a charming tale from Pisa about Pasta di Cioccolata.

Olive oil tasting

A journey for your senses. Accompanied by photos and stories we take you on a mouth-watering tour of the olive groves. We sample five olive oils from different parts of Tuscany along with home-baked foccacia, Parmesan cheese and wine from Chianti.
